Τωρά γιατί κάποιος να τρέχει AROS σε ένα PPC board και όχι σε ένα απλό x86 μηχανάκι 5ετίας είναι ένα άλλο θέμα….

Yes, we finally did it again! A new, brilliant beta of VmwAROS is ready to be downloaded and, for the first time, installed directly on your PC. We transformed our VMware environment into a real distribution of the AROS Research Operating System, making it more pleasant than its nightly builds. Είναι πλέον γεγονός ο πρώτος email client για το AROS! Πρόκειται για το SimpleMail Light 0.32 από τον Michael Grundits το οποίο είναι ακόμη σε BETA μορφή ωστόσο είναι πολλά υποσχόμενο :) Περισσότερες πληροφορίες στο VMWAros.org.

A new beta version of VmwAROS is now available for download. This version has these nice features:

• System files updated to January 13th, 2008
• AFFS Validator (no more unvalidated read-only partitions!)
• Show all files automatically enabled for PC CD-ROMs and any other non-Amiga/AROS media
• VmwUpdate - an easy updater for AROS system files
• Custom muimaster.library: compatible like older v41, updated like new v19
• Custom SwitchMuiMaster - to easy change muimaster.library as needed
• Murks!IDE 0.5.3 with all available locale files
• Newer WookieChat and VICE versions

And also some bugfixes:

• New diskfile works with older host filesystems (no more 2 GB issue)
• MysticView and few not-working programs removed from AmiStart

Dr. Michal Schulz has completed the porting of AROS to x86_64. Expect to see AROS64, with limited memory protection and grub loading modules, on nightly ISOs in the very near future on aros.org. Dr. Schulz will be working on porting the AROS32′s contrib section to AROS64 plus a new kernel for his next project.

Πολύ καλά νέα από το στρατόπεδο του AROS. Με το καλό να δούμε full x86-64 implementation.

Don’t expect much from it. It is a beta 2 in early test phase – many things may just crash without any warning :)
